It is a little-known fact that over 80% of the garlic sold around Australia is imported. Some of this imported product is grown and harvested in conditions that are poor in soil and or air quality and are treated chemically to alter their colour and longevity.
All imported garlic is fumigated with Methyl Bromide on arrival in Australia.
